India Houghton

India Houghton is a Staff Writer for Grandstand Magazine. She is a graduate student at the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business, studying Business Management. She's also a member of the UF women’s tennis team.

Hailing from Northern California, she graduated from Stanford University in 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology and Society, competing for the Cardinal women’s tennis team and winning three conference tournament championships. From the desert strip of Lima, Peru, to the sun-washed parks of Melbourne, Australia, India has competed in tennis tournaments worldwide.

After graduating, she plans to pursue a career as a professional tennis player. She also hopes to have a career in sports journalism, with a particular interest in the parts of athletics that rarely make the highlight reel: pre-sunrise practices, injury comeback stories and the quiet discipline that exists when no one is watching.

At UF, India is the sports opinion columnist for The Independent Florida Alligator, where she writes her weekly column, The Match Point. When she’s not on the tennis court or on deadline, you can find her playing the piano, taking ice baths, and watching just about any sporting event.
