Shelby Hickman
Staff Writer
Shelby Hickman is a Staff Writer for Grandstand Magazine. She is a fourth year journalism student with a specialization in sports and media and a minor in public relations. She is a social media intern for the University Athletic Association, the editorial director of Spoon UF, the treasurer of the Association for Women in Sports Media.
She has always had a passion for writing, creating elaborate tales with fictional characters and farfetched plots as a child. Eventually, she grew interested in telling the stories of real people, sending her on a path that led her from small-town Millsboro, Delaware, to the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications.
Her proudest accomplishment to date is her piece on Williston's celebration of Philadelphia Eagles Cornerback and Williston native, Quinyon Mitchell's, Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
After graduation, she hopes to work for a major sports news outlet and continue sharing the stories of athletes all over the world.
When she isn't writing, she can be found reading, cooking and showing photos of her corgi, Cheddar, to anyone who will look at them.
